The Urban Farm at Stapleton teaches applied animal and plant science to urban children and their families through hands- on learning opportunities.

 


Ag in the Classroom is a USDA sponsored program which has the endorsement of all living former Secretaries of Agriculture, the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, the National Conference of States Legislatures, most of the Governors of the States, and the major agricultural organizations and commodity groups. The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA), a not for profit educational corporation, was established in 1991 to promote agricultural literacy in Colorado. Projects and materials developed by CFA are made available, at no or minimal cost, to Colorado educators. CFA is the only organization that provides our state's educators with current information about Colorado agriculture and natural resources.

 

Sustainable Agriculture Education (SAGE) is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization that addresses these needs and challenges through its mission, goals, and activities. SAGE develops projects, programs, and materials on our own initiative and for clients that help people understand and enjoy sustainable agriculture's many benefits.

The Community Food Security Coalition (CFSC) is a North American organization of social and economic justice, environmental, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, community development, labor, anti-poverty, anti-hunger, and other groups.

 

Project Food, Land & People promotes approaches to learning to help people better understand the interrelationships among agriculture, the environment and people of the world.

 

The Food Project is a launching pad for new ideas about youth and adults partnering to create social change through sustainable agriculture.

 

Feeding Minds

Without adequate nutrition, children cannot develop their potential to the fullest, and adults will experience difficulty in maintaining or expanding theirs. This web site offers an international classroom for exploring the problems of hunger, malnutrition and food insecurity. In this site you will also find sample materials and lessons, and an interactive forum for exchanging ideas and experiences around the world.

 

The Edible Schoolyard, in collaboration with Martin Luther King Junior Middle School, provides urban public school students with a one-acre organic garden and a kitchen classroom.

 

The Food Trust

The Food Trust's mission is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. Founded in 1992, the Trust works to improve the health of children and adults, promote good nutrition, increase access to nutritious foods, and advocate for better public policy.

 

Growing Minds, an educational program of the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP), is a program for teachers and students in grades K-5 that links gardening and agriculture with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Growing Minds uses the garden to offer a dynamic and beautiful setting in which to integrate the disciplines of science, math, reading, writing, environmental studies, nutrition, and health.

 

Cultivating Community is growing sustainable communities. Based in Portland, Maine, we use organic, sustainable practices to grow food in our community and school gardens and at partnering farms.

 

GRuB grows inspired, self-confident, and community-minded youth through educational and employment opportunities in their Cultivating Youth program.

 

Green Hills Farm Project is a Farmer to Farmer networking group in North Central Missouri. They are primarily a grass-based farm group learning to improve the land and animal management using an environmentally healthy system. They encourage youth to be involved in agriculture and teach sustainable methods that will leave future generations with a farm and family lifestyle that will be attractive and profitable.

 

The Wisconsin Homegrown Lunch Project seeks to introduce healthy foods grown locally and sustainably to Madison schoolchildren while developing stable markets for the producers and processors of those foods. By building respectful, working relationships between Madison educators, the school food service and our local food producers, we will establish a Midwest farm-to-school model to grow and thrive into the future.

 

Bullfrog Films is the oldest and largest publisher of videos and films about the environment in the United States. Founded in 1973 it has been honored with a retrospective screening at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and with a special award from Medikinale International in Parma, Italy.
